Description: SIKHOTE-ALIN ( from Russia.)

As a collector and enthusiast, Sikhote-Alin is easily my favorite meteorite. The Sikhote-Alin shower of 1947 took place in a remote area of eastern Russia and was the largest single meteoritic event documented in modern times. It is an extremely rare witnessed fall iron, and many individuals display the classic characteristics of meteorites: regmaglypts, orientation, rollover lips, and even impact pits from in-flight collisions with other meteorites! Sikhote-Alin is an extremely stable and affordable meteorite. Once relatively common in the marketplace, intensive hunting at the fall site has resulted in the area being largely hunted out, and very few new specimens now make it into collectors' hands. I am friends with several people who have hunted extensively in the Sikhote-Alin strewnfield, and I acquire these outstanding specimens directly from Russia.

IIAB Fell Feb. 12, 1947, Russia
32.38 gram highly oriented individual

Oriented specimen with fine flowlines, delicate rollover lip and gentle regmaglypts. Sits up well and displays nicely on a naturally flat base.
33 mm x 25 mm x 16 mm
